The statue of Gomateshwara is 1026 years old. Shravanabelagola is the seat of the ancient Bhattaraka Math, belonging to the Desiya Gana lineage of Mula Sangh, from the Digambar monastic tradition. Mahamastakabhisheka is held in Sravanbelagola once in 12 years and attracts a huge number of devout worshippers from all over the world.
